Night-O returns to Prince William Forest Park Happyland (Camp 5) on Saturday evening, March 28. Come orienteer in the dark - it's fun, it's instructive, and we've got a warm lodge with a fireplace and convivial folks to hang out with after your run. This event occurs in the middle of the training weekend, but it is a separate event (open to everyone). [Training weekend attendees: your Night-O entry fee is already covered by your weekend registration.]

This Night-O event requires pre-registration which will open closer to the event date. Start your course any time between 7:30 - 9:00pm, and be absolutely sure to be back before 10:30pm. Course details for the 4 courses (1 beginner, 1 intermediate, 2 advanced - short and long) will be posted when registration opens.

Also, since this event is being held at Prince William Forest Park, a National Park Service venue, each vehicle must pay the $20 park entrance fee, even though the entrance to Happyland is separate from the main park entrance. The only exception is for those with an annual Prince William Forest Park or National Parks pass (such as a Senior pass); if anyone in your vehicle has such a pass, that covers everyone in the vehicle. You will not be able to pay the fee in person at Happyland and, unless you arrive very early, the visitor center will be closed, so you should use the Prince William Forest Park Fee Pay App available in the App Store or Google Play. Driving directions are also posted below. We have not finalized the parking arrangements for the Night-O participants yet, but we will post the details as soon as they are available. Be prepared to walk up to 800 meters in the dark to the registration area, so have your headlamp or flashlight ready to go. We will try to get closer-in parking, but parking is tight in that area.

If you are not participating in the training weekend, cabin accommodations unfortunately will not be available. If you don’t want to drive home after the meet there are several hotels/motels in the immediate area; just search for lodging in Dumfries.

Location Details	Night-O Prince William Forest Park Camp 5 - Happyland Triangle, VA Google Map From I-95 exit 150B (near Triangle, VA) go west on Joplin Road ~4.5 miles, then turn right and follow the red and white orienteering signs on Mawavi Road. Registration is (usually) in the Dining Hall of Camp 5. More detailed directions available using the Google map link. Entry Fees	Individual Entries Note: juniors = under 21 Club Member, adult Club Member, junior Non-Member, adult Non-Member, junior Epunch Owner $5 $5 $10 $5 Epunch Borrower $10 $5 $15 $10 Team or Group Entries Participants are welcome to compete together as a single team entry. Teams containing one or more nonmembers are charged the nonmember individual rate. Teams containing one or more adults are charged the adult individual rate. For teams to receive member or junior rates, all members of the team must be members or juniors, respectively. Each extra team map beyond the first is an additional $2. Individuals or teams desiring to compete on a second course can do so for a reduced fee of $2/map. Important Notes If you wish to become a QOC member you should join online in advance via this webpage (which also explains the member benefits). Membership is completely optional. Most of our events use an 'epunch' timing chip for electronic timing. Individuals or groups without their own epunch pay a higher entry fee (see above), which includes the loan of an epunch for that event. Loaned epunches that are lost incur a $40 replacement fee. Epunches (also known as SI-cards or finger sticks) can be purchased from online vendors as described here. Former QOC members who have let their membership lapse pay non-member fees. Compasses are available at no charge, but if lost incur a $15 replacement fee. Please provide collateral (driver's license or car keys) when borrowing a compass or epunch. For additional safety, whistles are available for sale at $1/each. Free beginner instruction is always available - just ask at the registration table.
