OCADLocation: Arlington, Virginia.

Registration: Pre-registration will be required several weeks in advance of the event. Registration will close Thursday May 23. The class will be capped at 20’ish people. In the event more than 20 people want to participate in the class then those who have taken the prior QOC mapping class or actively do mapping for QOC will have preference.

Time: 9:30am - 12:30pm

Fee: Free to current QOC members.

Details:

This is an in person only, hands on class. QOC will provide the temporary OCAD training licenses but participants will need to bring their own computers with OCAD pre-loaded (free to load). Class materials (sample maps, field checking,…) will be emailed out before the class and will need to be on the computer also.

Class will focus on how to use OCAD software to draft orienteering maps. This includes basic OCAD usage: drawing objects, cutting/joining linear objects, creating/saving/printing files. Advance usage: importing background maps, rotating maps, updating symbol sets, OCAD Sketch tool, Symbol usage, OCAD colors.

The class will NOT include processing LIDAR within OCAD.

The class will take place at 3535 S Ball St in Arlington (VA). Street parking around the immediate area is free on Sundays.
