Intro to Adventure
Flickr photo album for this event is here.
What an amazing day to hold an event for beginner orienteers. We couldn’t have asked for better weather and orienteering conditions. We had a total of 58 starts today, with a whopping 125 people out on white and yellow courses, quite a turnout! Hope to see some of these new faces at future events.
This event happened thanks to the hard work of many:
Huge thanks to Don, Craig, Mike, Greg and Kathleen: all of you do so much, there’s no way to cover it all. Getting this event on the calendar, all the logistics, time, effort, and energy leading up to the event, the day of the event and after the event are incredible.
Amy and Valerie (and Roger): maps, cookies, and e-punch, oh my! Without all of you, we wouldn’t have maps, treats, and results.
Our amazing registration volunteer, Harry, made sure every single person was checked in properly, and provided with a whistle, map and compass. Harry also generously provided the funding for the QOC pens passed out to participants today!
Beatri, Ninely, Cecilia, Shannon, Mary, Linnea, Rupert and Susan all made sure our newbie orienteers knew where they were going and how to get there, along with doing countless other tasks throughout the day.
New orienteers wouldn’t have known how to properly use their maps and compasses without the most fabulous instructors: Jody, Erin, Dave, Ginny, Gary, John, Tom, Paul, Mark, Jason, Meilynn, Steve, Chris, David and Yechiel.
Parker and Dawn brought the meet kit to the event, helped with set up as well as provided beginner instruction, compasses and so much more.
Rob, John, Linnea and Ruppert made sure all controls were picked up quickly after the event.
Sam thank you for coming out to pick up the control kit for the next MD event, which includes the Stumble.
Sid always makes sure people get credit for volunteering and tallying up points for the club.
As always, we are so grateful to all the amazing volunteers – without all of you, this event wouldn’t have been such a success. Thank you, every single one of you.
Hope to see everyone in the woods again soon!
