It was the perfect December evening for night orienteering! We were treated to the classroom at Turkey Run again this year for our registration and e-punch set up, and welcomed many orienteers from outside of our usual QOC area. We were happy to have several members of Huntingtown and Patriots NJROTC participate.
Many thanks to Gary Smith for designing five great courses on freshly mapped terrain! There were many happy orienteers who returned successfully, happily, and on time from their courses. Patrick Farley and Aaron Linville helped Gary with hanging the controls.
Behind the scenes Charles Carrick maintained a great relationship with the staff at PWFP to secure the permits, coordinate with the course designers, and juggled logistics of getting all the equipment to the right people and places at the right time. Greg Lennon maintained the website and registration, and also refreshed the reflective tape of many of the control bags.
At the event Harry Jones and John Baker handled registration, Matt Knight and Bill Wright helped the early arrivers with parking, and Amy Louden, Valerie Meyer, and Sandy Fillebrown (a guest from DVOA) handled e-punch. Luckily we did not need to use Aaron Linville, Matt Smith, or John Baker to help find any lost or late to finish orienteers, but appreciated them staying.
On Sunday morning the team of Gary Smith, Karla Hulett, Matt Smith, Michael Dickey, and Patrick Farley retrieved the night controls before the day event started.
