Event Director Summary:

Thanks to everyone who was able to make it out and enjoy the beautiful weather at Greenbelt National Park on Sunday. We had 163 starts even though preregistration couldn't open until midday Wednesday! Many people enjoyed the challenging course set by experienced course setter Sam Listwak. Sam put together the full array of courses from white to blue taking orienteers all around the park.

A HUGE thank you goes out to Superintendent Matthew Carroll and his team of Rangers who were able to get the park up and running after all the snowfall! They were working round the clock to ensure that the parkway was driveable and still were able to clear the Sweetgum parking lot. They also made sure to check in at the event to ensure that people were safe and the event was running smoothing. We would not have been able to hold the event without their efforts.

I also want to direct attention to the AMAZING e-punch team: Valerie and Amy (and Mary). They are the ones who put in hours of work, days before the meet starts and long after the last person downloads their results. While technology makes it cool to see your split times, it's the dedication of this volunteer team who keep the computers, printers, and gadgets working so that we can log onto the QOC website and see our results. Thank you, we owe you one! :)

I also need to thank all the WONDERFUL volunteers who helped me with registration, e-punch, set-up, beginner instruction, clean-up, and control pick-up and every other task I gave them. Some of these volunteers were first timers and others came out just to volunteer even though they weren't running! Thank you for your advice and recommendations.
