Take the Party Bus and Help QOC Win!

Once a year, the 3 Mid-Atlantic orienteering clubs (QOC, DVOA and SVO) meet up in a friendly competition, and a highly complex formula that includes a count of the members per club is used to determine the winning club. Help us win back the celebrated "Broken Compass Award" by heading up to the event this coming Oct. 31 - and don't let the competitive aspects scare you if you're on white, yellow or orange courses - all participation helps, regardless of which course or your speed. [Competition details are listed here.] And as in previous years, we're organizing a Party Bus to get us there (and back!). For a nominal fee, QOC members can join the bus at a convenient stop early on Sunday (most likely Metro stops with large parking lots) in either Northern VA, DC or Maryland, and then be whisked to the southern Pennsylvania park where the races will take place. The bus cost will be a mere $5/member, with a $10 max. per member family. [Nonmember prices double.] Food and drink is fine on the bus – and whether or not we win, on the ride back there's likely to be a "refreshment tasting" event coordinated by our Party Bus Host, Heidi Onkst. And if you're not a member yet - wouldn't now be a great time to join? To get a headcount for those planning to join the fun, please email us using the Contact Form, telling us your name, your home address (so we can select a stop not too far from you), a cell phone # to reach you at, the number of seats you'd like held, and whether you're likely to wish to join a QOC relay team in addition to running an individual course. Once we have a better sense of where participants are located we'll email the exact timing and stop details and you can decide if they work well enough for you. So email now - or at least by Oct. 26, please! Note: all likely relay runners are asked to contact the official QOC Relay Team Coordinator & Coach, Jon Torrance, whether or not you're taking the bus, and he'll place you on a suitable QOC team.
